DVB World 2010 - Pre-conference Masterclass

DVB-S, DVB-C and DVB-T are the typical proponents of the first generation of DVB standards for classical broadcasting. At the time of the development of these technical solutions (1993 to 1995) they represented the state of the art of digital broadcasting and they are in use in many parts of the world today. All three standards have a significant level of similarity and belong to what can be called “a family of standards”. An introduction to the first generation DVB systems was offered in the Masterclass of DVB World 2009.

Starting with the development of DVB-S2 in 2002, the DVB Project launched the era of DVB-x.2 systems. Again, the idea of a family of standards was followed and therefore DVB-T2 and DVB-C2 use algorithms which are identical to those of DVB-S2. The Masterclass preceding the conference of DVB World 2010 will concentrate on the algorithms used in the new systems including modulation, forward error correction and system aspects.
